How It Works

Two actives. One syrup.

A productive cough means there's mucus in the chest that needs to come up. A non-productive cough means the cough reflex is firing without anything to expel — which keeps you from sleeping or working.

Brosolvan handles both at the same time. Guaifenesin loosens and thins the mucus so it can be cleared. Dextromethorphan calms the cough reflex when there's nothing left to bring up.

How to take it.

Always read the Drug Facts panel on the package before use. Adult and Children formulas are calibrated separately — use the right one for the right person.

Pick the right SKU
Adulto Extra Forte for adults and adolescents 12+; Children's Cherry for kids. Don't substitute one for the other — doses are different.

Measure carefully
Use a proper dosing device (oral syringe or measuring cup) for accurate dosing. Don't use a kitchen spoon — they vary in size and lead to inaccurate doses.

Follow the label
Refer to the dosing chart on the carton for the correct amount based on age. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose.

Stop after 7 days
Do not use for more than 7 days unless directed by a doctor. If symptoms persist or worsen, see a healthcare professional.

Before you take it.

  • Do not use if you are taking a prescription MAOI (for depression, psychiatric, emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease) or for two weeks after stopping. Ask a pharmacist if unsure.
  • Do not use with any other product containing dextromethorphan or guaifenesin without consulting a doctor or pharmacist.
  • Ask a doctor before use if you have a chronic cough that lasts (such as occurs with smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema), or a cough accompanied by excessive phlegm.
  • Stop use and ask a doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache.
  • If pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a health professional before use.
  • Children under 4 — ask a doctor.
  • Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, contact a Poison Control Center right away (1-800-222-1222).
